The School Council held a meeting today to discuss ways to improve our playground , especially in the junior department. This term, Betws was fortunate enough to be visited by the travelling Listening Bus which is a very informative experience and offers children a chance to really appreciate the challenges of having a hearing impairment. We had a fantastic day 16th March when all the children and staff wore trainers. The infant children walked around the yard and the junior children walked a mile around the school grounds. A massive thankyou for all your support, we raised an astounding £94 from collecting loose change. Mrs Matchett has very kindly agreed to find money from the school fund and match that sum and add a little bit more to make it £200 ! [...]
Today saw our topical trip to Big Pit. Big Pit is situated around 10 miles north of Newport and is now a world heritage site. Year 5 and 6 had a hands on experience of what mining is and what it would have been like to work down the mines all those years ago. Dave Penny Jones joined us here at Betws Primary today for our ICT INSET. All members of staff were able to brush up on ICT skills such as data handling and maths within ICT. Dave was a great host and showed all members of staff many different ways and how to apply ICT effectively across these subject areas.
